Your Wedding Gift Registry
Asking for presents can seem like a strange, and maybe even tacky concept, but when it comes to weddings, all the rules are different! A registry is a great way to give your guests suggestions for things you’d like to have as a married couple and really helps out people who may not know you that well. So, for all you pro-registry brides and grooms out there, here are some ideas to make the most of your registry and help you through the process.
Only register for things you want. This may seem like a “duh” idea, but you’d be surprised at the number of things that can end up on your registry that you won’t ever use. It’s very easy to get caught up in what the over-eager salesperson wants you to register for (or get click-happy when putting together a registry online), like that formal china or a turkey baster you have no intention of using. Believe it or not, people will actually buy the things you put on your registry, so staying true to yourself when checking those boxes online or scanning barcodes in the store is the best way to make sure your registry reflects you as a couple.
Register for an assortment of practical and fun items. Your registry doesn’t have to be all towels and plates! There are so many other options you can choose, like decor, cheese plates, or even a bed for your pet. At the same time, if there are practical items you really need, like a lamp or bookcase, register for that too! This is a great time to fill your home with items you love, no matter what that might be.
Consider honeymoon funds. A lot of wedding website hosts provide options for guests to put money toward activities on your honeymoon. If you aren’t interested in asking for gifts, a honeymoon fund is a great way to ask for money in a classy way. You can register for things like “couples massage,” “champagne on the beach,” “bungee-jumping,” or whatever else you could imagine. This is a great way to get some extra cash for your honeymoon and put it toward fun activities for you and your new spouse.
No matter what your stance on registries may be, you are now prepped with some great ideas for filling out your registry the way YOU want. Not only will you be equipped with a whole host of awesome gifts, you’ll have so much fun choosing items or activities with your new spouse and imagining what your life together will be like.
